Question: Why do Autonomy Search Results containing the Trademark symbol (TM) print the symbol as a question mark?
Answer: special characters are problems in in non-filtered content. You can replace or skip special characters using Connector configuration file. Also you can use Lua script to filter document fields that is not containing special characters.

Question: How to solve strange characters from .PDF files?
Answer: To filter special characters from PDF file, you need to check

• Mode=alternative
• ExtractUnicode=true
• Filter NonPrintingCharacters=true
• OutputMetaUTF8=TRUE
• OutputUTF8=TRUE
• PreserveStreamOrder=false

If you're having problems, you can always replace the PDFSLAVe to the newest PDFSLAVe version without deleting or un installing the connector.
Question: Can I index PDF header and footer only?
Answer: Yes you can index from header to footer and leave anything under the footer line.

Question: Which software do I need to index a video content?
Answer: You need Virage VideoLogger to index a video content. VideoLogger can create a .vdf file for each video then parse it to idx file before sending to Autonomy IDOL engine.
